Cosmetic PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) injections work by stimulating production of elastic materials in the skin. Blood is collected and processed in a centrifuge using an advanced extraction technology to harvest PRP with a plasma concentration higher than found naturally in one’s blood. The PRP is then injected intradermally into the skin using the Vital Injector 2 for a controlled and even delivery of the PRP. The direct injections into the skin stimulate fibroblast activity, which results in the production of collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid in the skin. Cosmetic PRP is a safe and natural approach for skin rejuvenation and improvement of fine wrinkles, skin tone and texture, skin elasticity and sensitivity, and wound healing from miscellaneous factors.

Most patients notice initial improvement 3-4 weeks following the initial session. Additional treatment sessions for a total of 3-5 sessions done at 4-6 week intervals are generally recommended, the exact number of which varies depending on your skin condition and intended aesthetic goals. Repeated injections are generally required to sustain the result.

• Is Cosmetic PRP painful?
  Topical anesthetic cream application is offered to minimize discomfort during treatment. DMC Skin Clinic also offers  analgesic laughing gas for patients who desire additional relief.
• Is there any downtime following Cosmetic PRP?
  Redness, localized bruising, minor swelling and small scabbing typically resolve in 5-10 days. Cosmetic concealer can be applied 24 hours after each treatment session.
