NOT YOUR AVERAGE REMOVAL

Warts are benign, infectious growth of skin caused by a group of viruses called Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). There are several types of warts that can grow on the face and body, with flat warts being the most common. Flat wars are generally skin- or brown-coloured, slightly raised, and flat-surfaced. They are more often than not mistaken as other pigmentation.

Although some warts can spontaneously disappear, treatment is often necessary in many adults who have multiple warts. Warts are contagious and can easily spread from one area of the skin to another, and from one person to another. Furthermore, warts have an incubation time of several months to years, meaning that even after removal, they may still remain.

WHAT IS WART REMOVAL?

DMC Skin Clinic offers various treatment methods to remove unwanted warts. For more than a decade, we have provided advanced surgical and non-surgical wart removal procedures with high success rates for even those warts that have resisted multiple freezing sessions.

  • Candida Antigen
  • Topical immunotherapy
  • Vaccination
  • Plasma Ablation

Of the above-mentioned, plasma ablation is one of the most commonly performed procedures at DMC Skin Clinic. Involving burning of the virus using highly accurate micro-plasma ablation, the treatment has minimal chances of scarring and potential damage to untreated surrounding skin.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • How soon can I see the result? How long does it last?
For warts that have been treated using the plasma ablation, the results can be seen as soon as the treatment is finished and better realized after fully recovering. Generally, warts that have been removed do not come back once fully resolved. That being said, HPV re-infection is always possible, meaning that new wart growth may occur.
  • Is wart removal painful?
Topical anesthetic cream application is offered to minimize discomfort during treatment. DMC Skin Clinic also offers the use of analgesic laughing gas for patients who desire additional relief.
  • Is there any downtime following wart removal?
Pinkness, spot bleeding, and mild stinging of the treated areas typically resolve in 5-14 days. We highly recommend keeping the treated areas covered with hydrocolloid stickers until the areas are fully resolved. Patients are also required to keep the area protected from UV exposure for several weeks.
