The high level of precision and homogeneity of his Sculptra administration has remarkably enhanced the control of tissue restoration, which translates to a dramatic improvement in the safety and efficacy of Sculptra and the reconstitution of Sculptra using the official, Health Canada cleared on-label reconstitution method. Consequently, the need for a common post-Sculptra injection massage is completely eliminated. Also, the injection areas previously considered unsuitable are now safely treated, which includes under-eye, forehead, cutaneous lips, and neck. Thanks to the safe implementation of the official on-label reconstitution, there is no appreciatable swelling and bruising, placing Sculptra injection on par with hyaluronic acid filler injection (such as Restylane and Juvederm) in terms of recovery and downtime. The on-label reconstitution also results in about 2 times higher concentration of Sculptra per given area per treatment session compared to the common, off-label hyper-dilution method. Intended to also address the underlying cause of facial aging, Sculptra® is an injectable that stimulates the growth of collagen over time to restore facial volume and improve fine wrinkles. Made of Poly-L-Lactic Acid (PLLA), which is gradually absorbed by the body and stimulates the production of collagen, Sculptra® is different from regular hyaluronic acid fillers in that the results do not show up immediately.

Collagen is the material that gives skin structure and helps the functions of elastin and hyaluronic acid. Sculptra®, which is made with the biocompatible synthetic substance, PLLA, is injected deep into the dermis or subcutaneous tissue (below the skin) and intends to replace lost collagen. This results in a more youthful looking appearance and smoother complexion as facial depressions and wrinkles are restored to fullness with time.

The results of Sculptra® injections are generally appear in 4-6 months’ time with the gradual production of collagen. Results can last up to two years, although individual results vary depending on patient to patient and how much is injected.

• Is there any downtime following the injection(s)?
  The downtime may include possible bruising and/or swelling, the degree of which varies from patient to patient. Patients may also experience tenderness and redness. Unlike surgical procedures, patients are able to resume daily activities shortly after treatment, if not immediately following injections.
• How often do I need to repeat the injection?
  While the total numbers of injected vials per treatment and treatment sessions vary from patient to patient, generally three to four sessions are usually completed over one to six month intervals.
• Do I have to massage after the treatment?
  Due to the unique injection technique done at DMC Skin Clinic, we strictly advise all patients to avoid massaging the treated areas.
