PPP REMOVAL

DMC Skin Clinic has successfully performed hundreds, if not thousands, or PPP removals with an impeccable safety record since 2008. Using refined removal techniques to minimize collateral damage for a faster recovery, we are committed to providing high quality service.

WHAT ARE PEARLY PENILE PAPULES?

PPP are typically flesh-coloured smooth dome-shaped bumps that are found on the rim of the penile head. Despite PPP having no malignant potential and ability to be contracted through sexual activity, they are often misunderstood as being a sexually transmitted disease and falsely associate patients with a negative lifestyle and health status. In reality, PPP are non-contagious, harmless, and are commonly found among those in their twenties and thirties.

At DMC Skin Clinic, PPP are removed using intralesional micro-plasma ablation done under high power magnification. This allows for precise targeting and vaporization of the papules. Compared to CO2, which is another popular laser typically used for PPP removal, plasma ablation has a smaller ablation zone and, thus, minimizes the chances of scarring and potential damage to unaffected surrounding skin.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • How soon can I see the result? How long does it last?
The results can be seen as soon as the treatment is finished and better realized after fully recovering. The best cosmetic results can be seen at 4 weeks time. That being said, PPP may recur in the same or different regions of the skin after a certain amount of time has passed. As part of our commitment to providing high quality care, DMC Skin Clinic offers complimentary touch-up removals of any newly developed PPP within 6 months from the initial treatment date.
  • Is PPP removal painful?
Topical anesthetic cream application is offered to minimize discomfort during treatment. DMC Skin Clinic also offers the use of analgesic laughing gas for patients who desire additional relief.
  • Is there any downtime following PPP removal?
Redness and mild swelling typically disappear within a few to 14 days. Some patients may also experience minor tingling and formation of small scabs which generally resolve within a few days. Apart from activity restrictions such as water activities (swimming, sitting in the hot tub), sexual intercourse, and extreme exercise for the first 7-14 days, patients are able to resume with their daily routine.
